The
H.E.A.T. Foundation is a charitable organization providing
Health, Education and Training to children in need. The charity
is currently working with a local charity in Southern India,
in a joint effort to set up a senior school and provide local
and other children with continued education. The aim is to
encourage them to continue in education and hopefully keep
them from joining the "Child labor market".
The
charity was established on 17th June 2005, and was set up
by Umar Shariff with the help of friends, family and colleagues
after visiting India and seeing the hardship and poverty that
people were experiencing.
The year 2005 was of great generosity with the G8 getting
involved to reduce third world country debt to help eliminate
poverty in suffering countries. It also followed the Boxing
Day Tsunami which affected many poor areas of Asia, destroying
homes and villages. The positive response of the public to
the Tsunami, the Niger disaster and more recently to the Asian
earthquake has been overwhelming. Which confirms the determination
of everyone in the world to eliminate poverty and to instil
long term stability and prosperity in the poorer parts of
the world. |
